The Day Christy Died – AnimaDoc

2023 | UHD | 2D Drawn Animation

For the documentary The Day Christy Died by American director Chris Seegel, we contributed a three-minute animated sequence. The film follows its namesake protagonist, a young British woman passionate about the film industry and Berlin’s party scene—until her life takes a dramatic turn when she is declared brain-dead after a drug overdose. Against all odds, Christy regains consciousness but is left blind, forcing her to navigate an entirely new chapter of her life.

The film’s main challenge was to visualize an internal monologue reflecting Christy’s experience in the liminal space between life and death—essentially, a near-death experience. The goal was to create a stylistically cohesive aesthetic with minimal yet expressive characters and fluid, dreamlike movements within an almost lightless space.
